Since its inception in 1989, a talented artistic Director and Choreographer, Jaime Carrasco, has led the company to its current and highly reputable status. With his gifted director efforts along with the talents of our many dancers, Quetzales has built a solid foundation that, throughout the years, has allowed for growth from a four couple troupe to a 46-member dance company. Throughout the year, Ballet Folklórico Quetzales performs at numerous events in the El Paso area. We have also had several yearly special appearances in the neighboring states of New Mexico and Colorado. Additionally, Quetzales has had the opportunity and privilege of enchanting audiences all over the world (Portugal, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Israel, Spain, Turkey, Greece, Egypt, and Jordan) with its expressive interpretation and intricate choreographies. Our first overseas success, and the impetus for our worldwide experiences, was the participation at the Carnaval du Roy de I'Europe, in Nice, France during March of 1993.

Mr. Carrasco is a graduate of the School of Fine Arts of the University of Chihuahua. His extensive experience includes artistic director of El Ballet Folklorico Universitario of the U.A.C.J (Univesidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez), one of the founders of La Compañia de Danza de la Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez, and choreographer for the internationally renowned summer production of Viva! El Paso.
